Cancer Outreach Center
Before the end of this year, more than 4,900 new cases of cancer will be diagnosed in the state of Montana. While Montanan's traditionally have access to excellent cancer care, those in the Glendive area now have an additional outlet to meet their medical needs.
The American Cancer Society and Glendive Medical Center formed a partnership to create the Cancer Outreach Center, located in the surgery waiting room of GMC.
The partnership between the American Cancer Society and Glendive Medical Center means that those diagnosed with cancer, their families and caregivers, the medical community and the public will now have free, direct access to the latest in updated medical information and available treatments.
Area men and woment attended a one-day training session which allows them to volunteer at the Outreach Center. They received instructions on accessing the American Cancer Society web site and the Society's Community Resource database, which will allow them to answer questions on specific cancers, programs offered by the American Cancer Society and resources available in and around the area.
The American Cancer Society/Glendive Medical Center Cancer Resource Center will be staffed Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. -12 p.m., and the second Friday of the
month from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
