Lifestyle Balance


LifeStyle Balance is an excellent program aimed at supporting participants in making long-term and sustainable healthy lifestyle changes to increase physical activity and achieve weight loss. The program includes group education sessions and discussions about healthy eating, being active, dealing with emotions and stress, problem solving and addressing the barriers that keep you from reaching or maintaining your weight loss goals.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • BMI of 25 or higher, plus one or more of the following risk factors:
  • Diagnosis of prediabetes (impaired fasting glucose or impaired glucose tolerance)
  • A1C 5.7 to 6.4%
  • Fasting Plasma Glucose 100 to 125 mg/dL
  • Blood pressure 130/80 mgHg or higher
  • Current treatment for high blood pressure
  • Triglycerides 150 mg/dL or higher
  • LDL Cholesterol 130 mg/dL or higher
  • Current treatment for high cholesterol
  • HDL Cholesterol <40 mg/dL for men, <50 mg/dL for women
  • History of Gestational Diabetes or having a baby >9 lbs


Our year-long program will meet in Carney Conference Center from noon to 1:00 pm weekly for 14 weeks and gradually reduce to monthly sessions. Cost of the program is $150 which includes all supplies, mid-program labs and RN, RD and Athletic Trainer team instruction and support!

Diabetes Education and Management


The Diabetes Self-Management Program at GMC is recognized by the American Diabetes Association (ADA) as meeting the education and program standards set by the ADA. GMC's program received recognition status in November 2005. The self management education program is designed for patients with Type 2 or gestational diabetes. The program assists patients with diabetes in managing their disease. A referral by a medical provider is required for participation in this program. Medicare and most insurance plans will provide reimbursement for the cost of this program. To schedule an appointment call, 406-345-8962.
