GMC and DCC Partner to Bring Athletic Trainer

Glendive, Montana, September 8, 2016 - Glendive Medical Center(GMC) is partnering with Dawson Community College (DCC) to provide Athletic Training services to the 100+ athletes at DCC who compete in Men's and Women's Basketball, Softball, Baseball and Rodeo. The college has not had a certified athletic trainer in the past. Laken Olson from Richey, MT has accepted the position and is busy preparing for the student-athletes who are arriving for the start of classes on August 24th.

"We are very excited about this partnership with DCC. Offering these services to students is a great opportunity that we are proud to be a part of. Working with an athletic trainer is a great way for students to prevent injuries and improve their athletic performance." GMC CEO Parker Powell said.

DCC Athletic Director Joe Peterson commented, "We are grateful for GMC's partnership and their support of the college and our athletic department. We are really excited about providing athletic training services because we take the health of our students very seriously. Laken has experience working with collegiate athletes and even Junior College athletes over the past few years. Her personality and knowledge, along with her experience, will be a great addition to the college."

Once the students report this week, all of the sports will be in full swing. Baseball and Softball will begin their Fall season with a slate of games in September and October. Men's and Women's Basketball will start their pre-season training immediately in preparation for official practice which starts October 1. Rodeo also begins their Fall season which is highlighted by their home rodeo scheduled for September 23-25 at the Dawson County Fairgrounds.
