GMC Welcomes New Family Medicine Provider

Glendive, Montana, September 23, 2013 - Glendive Medical Center (GMC) is pleased to announce that Laura Shellman, RN, APRN, FNP-C, has joined the medical staff at GMC and Gabert Clinic. She will provide primary care services as well as pediatric coverage.

Originally from Southern California, Shellman received her nursing degree from California State University, Los Angeles. After working as a registered nurse for several years, she graduated from Brigham Young University's Family Nurse Practitioner program in 2012 where she was the recipient of a graduate research fellowship award for her research regarding postpartum depression in Hispanic women. 

Before becoming a nurse practitioner, Shellman worked in hospitals and birth centers in California, Oregon and Utah, and also participated in public health research in Central and East Africa. Prior to coming to Glendive she worked as a nurse practitioner in North Dakota in primary care, psychiatric inpatient care, urgent care, emergency and acute care. She specializes in mental health and women's health. "My family and I have been looking for a place to settle down. We were not expecting to fall in love with this community the way we have. We have felt so welcomed by the people of this community and GMC," she said.
