Glendive Medical Center Commits to being a Recovery Friendly Workplace
News
Supporting Healing. Reducing Stigma. Strengthening Our GMC Team.

Glendive Medical Center (GMC) is proud to become a Recovery Friendly Workplace (RFW), reinforcing its commitment to creating a supportive, respectful environment where employees can seek help, support one another, and have opportunities to heal, grow, and thrive without judgment or stigma.
Recovery Friendly Montana recognizes workplaces that support people affected by substance use, mental health challenges, and other hardships. Through this initiative, GMC is fostering a culture that encourages employees to seek help, responds with compassion, and supports their well-being.
“At Glendive Medical Center, we believe healing happens best in a culture of compassion, hope, and support,” said Parker Powell, CEO of Glendive Medical Center. “Becoming a Recovery Friendly Workplace reflects our commitment to caring for one another just as we care for our patients and our community. We want every member of our team to know they are valued and that support is available when they need it.”
GMC’s commitment is guided by its SERVE values: Service, Excellence, Respect, Value, and Engage. These values reinforce the importance of treating every individual with dignity, creating opportunities for connection, and building a workplace where people feel safe seeking support.
Being a Recovery Friendly Workplace does not mean employees are expected to disclose personal experience or health information. Rather, the initiative focuses on reducing stigma, increasing awareness of available resources, and helping employees connect with appropriate support when needed.
GMC employees have access to mental health and substance use disorder services through the GMC health insurance plan, along with community resources available throughout eastern Montana. The organization is also sharing information to help employees better understand available benefits and where to turn for assistance.
“Recovery looks different for everyone, and no one should feel they have to navigate life’s challenges alone,” the GMC commitment statement reads. “Guided by our SERVE values, we care for one another as we care for our community, helping all people heal, grow, and thrive.”
By embracing the Recovery Friendly Workplace initiative, GMC hopes to strengthen its workplace culture while contributing to a more understanding and supportive community across eastern Montana.
