Glendive Medical Center Foundation Announces Scholarship Winners

The Glendive Medical Center (GMC) Foundation is pleased to announce the students’ receiving scholarships for the 2023-2024 school year:

Trey Dschaak of Wibaux was selected for the $5,000 Sobotka Endowed Scholarship. Trey is currently pursuing his Doctor of Medicine at the University of Washington School of Medicine. He plans to give back to his community and practice Family Medicine in Eastern Montana upon completion of his degree.

Demyrie Maher of Glendive was selected for the $1,000 MJB Nursing Scholarship. Demyrie is obtaining her Bachelor of Nursing degree at Dickinson State University and is currently working as an LPN in Acute Care at GMC.

Ryann Moline of Brockway, MT was the recipient of the $1,000 Markham Scholarship towards a Business or Accounting degree. Ryann is pursuing a degree in Finance and Management at South Dakota State University. She plans to work in rural Eastern Montana upon graduation.

Alexis Pettersen of Grand Forks, ND received the $500 Tena Brown Memorial Scholarship for Medical, Dental, or Veterinarian education. She is in her third year for a doctoral degree in Physical Therapy at the University of North Dakota.

Commenting on the winners this year, Jaime Shanks, Foundation and Marketing Director, shared that the donors of these scholarships are making a tremendous difference for students in this area. “We have such talented people vying for these scholarships, and our schools are to be commended for producing such talented students. It is a great feeling to be able to send this money forward to help with their tuition costs. The scholarship committee agreed that this year’s applicants were all extremely deserving and for the first time, also voted to offer $500 scholarships to the runner up candidates.”
